Škoda entrusted the choice of new color to the internet — Dragon Skin won
Škoda introduced a new body color in the UK for the 30th anniversary of the Octavia model. It's called Dragon Skin.
What is known
The company chose the new color through a vote on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Alternative options were Storm Blue and Tangerine Orange, but Dragon Skin won. You can order a car in this color starting March 4 for an additional £855 (€975).
Dragon Skin will be available only for the Octavia vRS liftback and station wagon, as well as for 130 units of the Octavia Sportline, which will appear later this year.
The new shade complements Waterworld Green and Space Violet colors, added to the palette last year after a similar online vote. In the photos, Dragon Skin looks like a mixture of yellow and green, but in reality, the color is likely to look even more vibrant.
Škoda customers in the UK often choose bright colors. In 2023, the most popular color of the brand in the country was blue — 30% of all new cars sold were blue. In comparison, 26% of clients chose gray, 17% black, and 12% white.
Škoda stands out not only with its bright palette. According to last year's sales data, a significant portion of the brand's customers still prefer manual transmissions. For the Škoda Fabia, 69% of cars sold in 2024 were equipped with a manual transmission.
The Octavia's share of versions with manual transmission was 20%, which is a high percentage for this segment. For Škoda Scala, manual accounted for 45% of sales, and for Škoda Kamiq — 35%.
