iPhone 17e Unveiled: Affordable with MagSafe, Satellite Support, A19 Chip
Apple introduced the iPhone 17e — an updated version of the 2025 budget smartphone, which received a number of improvements, including increased memory capacity and enhanced body protection.
What is known
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.1” OLED display with a 60 Hz refresh rate, 2532×1170 resolution, and up to 1200 nits brightness.
The compact gadget received a six-core processor Apple A19 — not the most powerful, but it provides high performance in everyday tasks and applications. It's the same chip used in the base version of the iPhone 17, making the device more competitive in its segment.
In the new model, the minimum built-in memory capacity has been increased — now the base version is available with 256 GB or 512 GB with 8 GB of RAM.
The iPhone 17e received one main camera with a 48 MP sensor and optical stabilization, providing sufficient photo and video quality for everyday use. The front camera is 12 MP, ƒ/1.9.
For unknown reasons, Apple did not specify the battery capacity of the budget smartphone, but it is expected to be within 4000 mAh. A 27W wired charging and 15W wireless via MagSafe are claimed (the iPhone 16e does not have this capability).
Support for modern connectivity standards, including 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, GPS, and satellite communication, is declared.
The body of the iPhone 17e received improved protection against external impacts, increasing the device's durability.
The gadget has a thickness of 7.8 mm and weighs 167 grams.
The price remains the same as last year: $599 for the 8/256 GB memory version. From March 4, Apple will open pre-orders for the iPhone 17e in black, pink, and white colors, and the smartphone will be available for sale from March 11.
