Samsung Unveils Revolutionary Slidable Screen Phone Concept at MWC: Is This the Future of Smartphones?
Samsung continues to look for innovative ideas for its smartphones and, after successfully conquering the foldable gadgets segment, showcased an interesting concept of a device with a sliding screen at the MWC exhibition in Barcelona.
What is known
A prototype under the conditional name Mobile Slidable is demonstrated at the Samsung Display stand. Its initial diagonal is 5.1” with an aspect ratio of 16:9, but with a simple move, it stretches to 6.7” with a ratio of 22:9.
Of course, the company has not yet disclosed the specifics of the technology, but journalists from the Android Authority portal managed to find out that the screen resolution is 1080×2640 pixels with a density of 426 ppi.
There are currently no guarantees that such a gadget will soon go on sale, but it is generating a lot of interest, and it seems that the sliding screen might be convenient for users, and possibly its design could be more reliable than that of foldable models.
Recall, this is not Samsung's first such experiment; back in 2022, a Flex Slidable prototype was presented, whose additional screen extended from the side with the push of a button, but such a concept has not yet been implemented (yet).
