JBL announced a new version of its most compact portable speaker — JBL GO 5. The model retains the recognizable form factor of the GO series but has undergone significant upgrades in sound, battery life, and wireless technologies, making it an exciting addition among compact speakers.

What is known

The GO 5 has become slightly larger and bulkier than its predecessor, which allowed for a more powerful speaker and increased body volume. The speaker is available in six bright colors and features WINK decorative lighting that subtly responds to music.

The GO 5 casing meets the IP68 standard, providing full protection against dust and water immersion — you can safely take the device to the beach, on a hike, or by the pool.

The main change is the redesigned acoustic system, tuned by Harman Acoustics engineers. The built-in 45 mm speaker delivers 4.8W RMS power, providing richer bass and clear highs. The frequency range is 100 Hz – 19 kHz, and the maximum volume exceeds 85 dB — it's a great sound for a pocket-sized speaker.

The GO 5 received Bluetooth 6.0 with support for SBC, AAC, and LC3 codecs, improving connection stability and reducing latency. Auracast support allows you to stream sound to multiple compatible devices simultaneously. The AirTouch technology simplifies pairing: JBL's new product connects to a smartphone with a single touch. Through the USB‑C port, it can also be used as a wired audio system thanks to the built-in DAC (digital-to-analog converter).

The 1000mAh battery provides up to 8 hours of operation without lighting. A full charge takes about three hours.

In China, JBL GO 5 is already available for pre-order at a price of about $58 (converted from yuan). The global release is expected in the coming months.
