Hyundai is upgrading the navigation map update system. All car models equipped with the Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) multimedia platform will receive updates faster and automatically — without the owner's involvement.

How it worked before

Updates to the standard navigation maps could already be installed without a visit to the dealer. Car owners could download the files from the official Hyundai website and transfer them to the onboard system via a USB drive or SD card. In addition, since 2022, OTA updates have been introduced. The first to receive this opportunity was the Hyundai Ioniq 5, followed by other models.

However, until recently, navigation software and map updates were rare and were part of large software packages.

What will change

The new system receives compact data packages during OTA updates. Download time is reduced, and update frequency is increased. Maps can even be updated while driving. In this case, only relevant sections are loaded in the background. The updated data becomes active after the next vehicle start.

Availability and conditions

In Europe, online map downloading will be available from March 2026. Mandatory conditions include having the ccNC multimedia system and a Bluelink Pro subscription for 9.99 euros per month. The subscription also includes streaming services, a route planner considering charging stations, online navigation with traffic information, online voice recognition, a digital key (unlocking the car with a smartphone), and remote features, including pre-heating or cooling the cabin.
