At the MWC 2026 exhibition, Lenovo showcased one of the most unusual and experimental laptops of recent years — the ThinkBook Modular AI PC. This is a concept that rethinks the familiar form factor and offers the user to assemble the device for specific tasks thanks to a modular design.

What is known

The ThinkBook Modular AI PC has a second screen, a detachable keyboard, and magnetic fasteners along the body. The main idea is the ability to change components of the lower part of the device. Instead of a standard keyboard, a second display can be installed, turning the laptop into a full-fledged dual-screen device. Or attach the second display to the back to share the screen with a conversation partner opposite. Or you can make it simpler: use it as a second monitor set up next to the laptop.

Any option enhances the user's multitasking, plus, the device's keyboard is fully detachable and operates via Bluetooth, allowing the laptop to be used as a tablet.

Lenovo has provided for interchangeable I/O port modules, addressing the issue of a lack of required connectors.

Although the ThinkBook Modular AI PC is not focused on top specifications, Lenovo emphasizes that the main thing is adaptability and smart usage scenarios. The concept is built on an Intel Core Ultra 7 255H processor, which is primarily aimed at high performance in AI tasks.

The prototype has 32 GB of RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The battery capacity is only 33 Wh, which is very low, especially considering the 2 displays. But since this is just a concept, the specified characteristics are conditional. Moreover, it is still unknown whether Lenovo plans to release such a laptop to the market, but perhaps it could interest those who are used to working with multiple screens.
