Assassin's Creed Franchise Boss Announces Black Flag Remake and Exciting Updates for Fans
The new head of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Jean Guesdon, addressed the community with his first message since his appointment, making several important announcements and discussing the future of the series.
What is known
First and foremost, the leader confirmed for the first time that Ubisoft is developing a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. As insiders had reported, it will have the subtitle Resynced and will be released “soon”, but without specifics yet.
Jean Guesdon showed an updated artwork depicting Edward Kenway standing on a mast and gave the following comment:
Speculation around Assassin’s Creed is nothing new, but it’s worth repeating: “Nothing is true. Everything is permitted.” Well, except in this case — there is slightly more wind in the sails of some rumors than others. Keep your eyes on the horizon through the spyglass.
Key points about new Assassin’s Creed games
Support for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is coming to an end. The team will release a few more patches and then switch to other projects.
As Tom Henderson reported, Assassin’s Creed Unity (2014) will receive the long-awaited 60 FPS patch for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 on March 5.
The next major installment in the series, Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, will be a game with a dark and rich plot. In February, its game director left the team, and Jean Guesdon took over the development with great enthusiasm. There are no details about the game yet, but fans are promised a unique experience.
The mobile game Assassin’s Creed Jade set in Ancient China is not canceled, but its concept has been revised, and developers have learned many lessons from the canceled early version. The new version of Jade includes a cooperative mode.
The service game Assassin’s Creed Invictus, which, as a reminder, “Insider: Ubisoft employees are sick of Assassin's Creed Invictus — they don't understand why this game is needed,” is being developed by the team behind For Honor action and will not receive a cartoonish style. Further work on it will be conducted in close contact with the community.
Additionally, news about the Assassin’s Creed series, which is being handled by Netflix, will soon appear.
Jean Guesdon emphasizes that every project will have the time necessary to realize its potential and will be released only when ready.
