Publisher Daedalic Entertainment and studio DALOAR have revealed the release date of the mystical horror with elements of a psychological thriller, The Occultist.

What is known

According to the portal Gematsu, the ambitious game will be released on April 8 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The standard edition will be priced at $29.99, while the Deluxe version, which includes a 200-page digital artbook and full soundtrack, will cost $39.99.

Recall, the events of The Occultist unfold in an ancient mansion on the island of Godstone, where the protagonist named Alan Rebels arrives to uncover the mystery of his father's disappearance. To do this, he uses a magical pendulum to interact with spirits and other supernatural entities and even alter reality.

The gameplay of The Occultist looks traditional for horrors of this format: players need to explore the rooms and corridors of the eerie house, avoid encounters with ghosts and automatons, solve puzzles, and try to understand the reasons behind the occurrences.

Graphically, The Occultist somewhat lags behind the top games of its genre, but thanks to its dense atmosphere and the skilled work of artists and game designers, it can become an interesting release for horror fans.

The protagonist is voiced by actor Doug Cockle, known as the voice of Geralt from The Witcher series games.

A demo version of The Occultist is available on Steam.
