Audi Q3 Unveils Powerful 193 HP Diesel Engine with Quattro Drive in Germany
The Audi Q3 engine lineup has expanded. The model is already offered with various types of powertrains — petrol, diesel, and electrified versions — and now it has received a more powerful diesel engine.
The German configurator has introduced the long-awaited 2.0-liter TDI with 150 kW (193 hp) combined with quattro all-wheel drive. The new engine is available for both the Audi Q3 and Audi Q3 Sportback. It complements the already existing 2.0 TDI diesel with 110 kW (150 hp). At the moment, this version is only offered in Germany but may later appear in other markets.
According to the official website, the Audi Q3 with the 193 hp 2.0 TDI reaches a top speed of 220 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The average fuel consumption in the combined cycle ranges from 6.1 to 6.8 liters per 100 km, and CO₂ emissions are from 160 to 177 g/km. The Audi Q3 Sportback's top speed is slightly higher at 221 km/h. The dynamic performance and fuel consumption figures remain the same, and CO₂ emissions slightly increase to 160–178 g/km.
The new engine is only available in combination with quattro all-wheel drive and S tronic automatic transmission. It can be ordered for the Audi Q3 and Audi Q3 Sportback in all existing configurations. In Germany, prices start at 51,900 euros for the Q3 SUV and 53,750 euros for the Q3 Sportback. This is exactly 5,000 euros more compared to the only previously available 150 hp diesel. However, the price difference is partly explained by the fact that the more powerful version initially comes with all-wheel drive.
Overall, it seems Audi still sees demand for powerful diesel engines, especially from corporate clients and fleets. For instance, the Audi A6 lineup includes an electrified 3.0-liter V6 TDI with 299 hp and a maximum torque of 580 Nm.
