Geely Revolutionizes EV Charging with New 1500 kW Megawatt Stations, Rivals BYD's Speed
After the presentation of BYD's ultra-fast charging technology, another major automaker from China announced reaching a similar power level for electric vehicle charging. Geely has reported developing its own network of megawatt charging stations.
Geely reaches 1500 kW charging level
Last week, BYD introduced the Blade Battery 2.0 and Flash Charging system. The maximum power of such charging reaches 1500 kW. An electric vehicle can be charged from 10% to 70% in about 5 minutes, and from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes. Even at a temperature of -30 °C, charging takes about 12 minutes.
However, BYD was not the only company to achieve such a power level.
Geely's charging station network
Geely reported that its own charging infrastructure network:
- has 2,103 charging stations
- covers 215 cities
- includes 1,216 ultra-fast charging stations
The Extreme Charge Megawatt Pile system provides up to 1300 kW of power through one connector. However, according to Autohome, the updated Zeekr 001 electric car can accept up to 1500 kW thanks to 12C standard support.

The updated 2026 model year Zeekr 001 is built on a 900-volt electric architecture, whereas the previous version uses 800-volt. The electric car is equipped with Geely's own battery — the Golden Battery with a capacity of 95 kWh. It can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 7 minutes.
New technologies
Like BYD, Geely is actively developing new battery technologies. The company is working on semi-solid-state batteries, new powertrains, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
