Rivian R2 Leak: New Electric SUV Specs and Pricing Revealed Ahead of Launch
Rivian will present its new R2 model tomorrow, but thanks to a leak, the main information is already known. According to ArsTechnica, the starting price for the electric crossover in the US will be $57,990, excluding the delivery fee.
What is known
The dimensions of the Rivian R2 are 4722 × 1984 × 1699 mm, with a wheelbase of 2936 mm and a ground clearance up to 244 mm. The trunk volume reaches 2248 liters, but with the rear seats up, it decreases to 813 liters. The crossover will also feature an NACS charging port and eight body color options.
The first modification to hit the market will be the Performance version. It will have a battery capacity of 87.9 kWh, a dual-motor all-wheel drive, power of 656 hp, and torque of 825 Nm. The range is stated to be 531 km, and fast charging allows the battery to replenish from 10 to 80% in 29 minutes. Features include a semi-active suspension, matrix headlights, 21-inch wheels, a nine-speaker audio system, and a built-in flashlight in the front door.
Later, a Premium version will be available for $53,990. It has the same battery but less powerful electric motors - 450 hp and 727 Nm. The suspension and set of drive modes are simplified, and the wheels are reduced to 20 inches.
In 2027, the R2 Standard with a single electric motor on the rear axle (350 hp, 481 Nm) and the same 87.9 kWh battery will appear. Due to a different drive scheme, the range will increase to 555 km. The equipment will be simplified: a five-speaker audio system, heated front seats only, and a completely black interior.
The base version will appear at the end of 2027. It will have a reduced battery and a range of about 426 km, with a price of approximately $45,000.
