Lucid Unveils New Cosmos and Earth EVs with Lighter Motors and AI Assistants
Lucid Motors revealed the first details about the upcoming midsize crossovers Lucid Cosmos and Lucid Earth. The premiere took place at the Investor Day 2026 event in New York.
What's Known
Both models will be based on a new platform and priced at approximately $50,000. This way, the brand plans to enter a more mass-market segment after the expensive models Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity.
The crossovers will feature an 800-volt electric architecture with support for bi-directional charging. The new Atlas electric motor, which is responsible for movement, is 23% lighter and contains 30% fewer components than the current Lucid motors.
Exact characteristics have not yet been disclosed, but it is known that Lucid Cosmos will be able to travel at least 480 km on a 69 kWh battery. Low energy consumption is achieved thanks to aerodynamics: the drag coefficient is 0.22.
The interior will also change. Instead of a central touch screen like in Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, there will be a wide display on top of the dashboard. It will be divided into four zones: energy data, navigation, multimedia, and additional information.
The developers also abandoned retractable door handles — they will use mechanical ones instead.
The models will differ in positioning. Lucid Cosmos is oriented towards dynamic driving on public roads, while Lucid Earth is designed for more versatile operation. The third model on the same platform has not yet been named and will be the most "off-road" version of the family.
The new vehicles will also feature a voice assistant based on artificial intelligence, which will become the main element of interaction with the multimedia system.
