Apple has announced a reduction in commissions for developers in its App Store in China. The decision was made after negotiations with the Chinese regulator. The new rates will take effect on March 15.

What is known

According to the company's announcement, the standard commission for in-app purchases will decrease from 30% to 25%. The changes apply to the Chinese version of the App Store for devices on iOS and iPadOS.

Apple will also reduce the commission for developers participating in the Small Business and Mini Apps support programs. For them, the rate will be reduced from 15% to 12%. This applies to both in-app purchases and subscription renewals after the first year of use.

The company stated that they strive to make the iOS and iPadOS ecosystem more attractive for developers in China. Apple also emphasized that conditions must remain "fair and transparent," and commission rates in the country should not exceed the overall tariff level in other markets.

Meanwhile, developers do not need to additionally agree to the new terms before March 15 — the reduction in the commission will be applied automatically. Analysts note that this step could become an important concession for Chinese companies, especially in light of reports about the App Store commission inspection by the state regulator that began last year.
