Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 to Feature Groundbreaking 5G and Satellite Connectivity by 2026
The Dutch portal GalaxyClub shared information about the new flagship smartwatches from Samsung — Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. It was previously reported that they will be released in mid-2026 and are being developed within the company under the name Watch 9 Ultra.
Now the first technical details have become known, with which the Korean company will try to impress.
What is known
According to preliminary information, Samsung will follow the example of its main competitor — Apple and will also equip its wearable gadget with support for the most modern communication protocols.
Possible 5G support
One of the most discussed innovations of the future model could be a built-in 5G modem. If the information is confirmed, the watch will be able to operate in next-generation mobile networks without being tied to a smartphone. This will allow faster data downloads, launching online maps, music, and other services directly on the watch. For users, this means more independent operation of the device — for example, you can leave your smartphone at home and use the internet on the watch.
The previous model — Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra — only supports LTE, so the transition to 5G will be an important step forward for the entire lineup.
But that's not all!
In addition to fast mobile internet, the new product from the Koreans will receive support for Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 6.0, UWB, and NB-NTN. The last of the listed options is perhaps the most important, as it will allow direct connection to satellite networks to make calls and send messages, staying connected even where there is no mobile coverage.
There is no doubt that Samsung will also implement new sports modes and health monitoring features in the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
When to expect
It is expected that the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 will be presented in July 2026, simultaneously with the more affordable model Galaxy Watch 9 and foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8.
