Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold Discontinued After Just 4 Months Despite Huge Demand: Here's Why
In December 2025, the Galaxy Z TriFold debuted — the first Samsung smartphone that folds twice.
In South Korea, and later in other countries all batches sold out in minutes, despite the price of $2400 and more, and in some markets it reached $3000. However, not everything is so rosy for Samsung, as the company may resort to an unexpected decision.
Will the Galaxy Z TriFold leave the market?
According to the Korean portal Donga, Samsung plans to stop the production of the gadget and at least in South Korea, the next batch may be the last.
This week, stores in the country will receive some more of the foldable smartphone, and then it will disappear from sale. The same situation is expected in other regions, which can be seen as Samsung's refusal to produce the TriFold and an acknowledgment of this experiment as unsuccessful.
The reason is simple
Already in February Top Manager of Samsung: Ultra-Thin Galaxy S25 Edge Failed, Expensive Trifold May Not Get a New Model, but Unusual Wide Fold Coming Soon that the production of such a complex device as the TriFold required enormous financial and technological resources, resulting in sales revenues being insignificant. Even then he acknowledged that the company is uncertain not only about the feasibility of developing a new model but also about the continuation of the existing one.
Thus, Samsung may discontinue the Galaxy Z TriFold just four months after its sales started, which seems paradoxical compared to the hype around it.
Of course, we should wait for official information, but if you were going to purchase the Galaxy Z TriFold — now is the time to do it; another chance may not come.
For those not in the know
The Samsung novelty transforms from a compact smartphone into a full-fledged tablet with a 10” AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2160×1584 and a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. In the folded state, an external 6.5” OLED display with the usual 21:9 format is available.
Each of the three TriFold panels varies in thickness — from 3.9 to 4.2 mm. When folded, the smartphone has a thickness of 12.9 mm, while the Mate XT is 12.8 mm. And the Samsung smartphone weighs 309 grams, which is 11 grams heavier than a similar device from Huawei.
The smartphone is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite (for Galaxy) chipset (not Gen 5!) and has up to 16 GB of RAM. A 5600 mAh battery supports fast charging at 45 W.
The Galaxy Z TriFold has the following set of cameras:
- main sensor 200 MP, ƒ/1.7;
- wide-angle lens 12 MP;
- telephoto lens 10 MP with triple optical zoom;
- two 10 MP front cameras (on the external and internal display).
The body protection complies with the IP48 standard, and the new Armor FlexHinge hinge ensures the durability of the structure. Additional warnings are provided for incorrect device assembly.
