The French brand DS has introduced the second generation of the DS N°7 crossover — the brand's most popular model. The car received a new design, a revamped interior, and an expanded range of powertrains, including hybrid and fully electric versions.

What is Known

The new DS N°7 is built on the STLA Medium platform, shared with models like the Jeep Compass and DS N°8. Production is set up at the factory in Melfi in southern Italy. The crossover has become larger: the length increased by 7 cm to 4.66 m, and the wheelbase grew by 5 cm to 2.79 m. The width (1.90 m) and height (1.63 m) remained unchanged.

The design follows the styling familiar from DS N°8. The body has more pronounced edges and complex shapes, with an aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cx) of 0.26. The front visually expands due to the illuminated grille and narrow headlights connected to vertical daytime running lights. The profile looks massive, with wheel diameters ranging from 19 to 21 inches. At the rear are vertical lights, creating a more dynamic appearance. However, the massive rear pillar and small slanted window limit rearward visibility, partially compensated by a digital rearview mirror.

The trunk volume is stated to be 560 liters. A double floor is provided for storing charging cables.

The interior is trimmed with wood, soft leather, and, depending on the configuration, Alcantara. It features a 12.25-inch digital instrument panel and a 16-inch central display. The screen is elongated horizontally and is accessible to both the driver and front passenger. It allows control of seat massage functions, the climate system, and multimedia. The seats have electric adjustments, heating, ventilation, and a neck-warming function.

At launch, the DS N°7 will be offered with a 1.2-liter petrol engine as part of a mild-hybrid system delivering 145 hp, and in three electric versions. The base electric vehicle features a 74 kWh battery and a 230 hp motor on the front axle, with a range of about 540 km. The Long Range version gets a 245 hp engine and a 97 kWh battery, providing up to 740 km on the WLTP cycle. The top all-wheel drive version with two electric motors develops 350 hp and uses the same 97 kWh battery, offering a range of up to 680 km.

The maximum charging power is 160 kW, with the system capable of maintaining this level steadily from 20% to 55% charge. According to the manufacturer, charging from 20% to 80% takes about 27 minutes, and in 10 minutes, you can replenish the range by approximately 200 km. The PlugCharge function is supported, which allows automatic authorization at compatible charging stations and payments without additional actions.

Prices for the new generation DS N°7 have not yet been announced. In France, order acceptance will open in May, and the first deliveries to dealers are expected in October.
