Todd Howard Breaks Silence: Elder Scrolls VI to Surpass Starfield but Years Away from Release
The story of the official announcement of The Elder Scrolls VI in 2018 is one of the biggest mysteries in the history of the gaming industry: why Todd Howard came out with this announcement on stage at E3 – no one knows until now, since the game has not received any teasers, art, or even officially confirmed information since then.
A couple of years ago, the head of Bethesda stated that he made this announcement “under pressure from fans”, but who and when pressured him – also unknown.
Finally, the famous developer and master of selling Skyrim on all possible (and sometimes impossible) platforms gave an extensive comment.
Everything will be fine, but it’s unknown when
A 20-minute interview with Todd Howard is published on the IGN YouTube channel. He noted that at the moment The Elder Scrolls VI is the primary project of Bethesda and more than half of the studio is working on the game.
According to the head, the team is achieving significant success and effectively bringing the game closer to release every day.
But!
Todd Howard urges gamers to pretend that the announcement in 2018 did not happen, since work on TES VI will take several more years. The developer separately emphasized that thanks to the updated Creation Engine 3 engine, the new part of the franchise will become Bethesda's most technologically advanced game and will surpass Starfield many times over.
The game director emphasized that his team regularly tests new content and is pleased with the results. He also noted that “the series will return to its roots.”
