Amidst the rapid increase in the cost of RAM and a number of other components, analysts have been saying for several months that budget smartphones with 12-16 GB RAM and 144 Hz frequency will become an endangered species.

Known insider Digital Chat Station shared his own information on what compromises Android smartphone manufacturers will have to make to offset the rising memory prices.

There is no good news

Digital Chat Station predicts that budget models will rapidly simplify, and by 2026 users will be offered:

  • up to 8 GB RAM while maintaining flash memory at an average level of 512 GB;
  • screen refresh rates will increasingly be 90 Hz;
  • front cameras will once again be placed in teardrop notches — we'll have to forget about under-display sensors, as well as high-tech fingerprint scanners;
  • more models with a hybrid slot for SIM cards and microSD memory cards;
  • a shift from metal in favor of plastic frames.

It remains to be seen whether such measures will help keep the cost of budget smartphones at a reasonable level, but some of them are already being actively implemented.
