Tesla's New Optimus Gen-3: A Superhero in Disguise with Human-Like Movements and Advanced Functionality
Elon Musk has repeatedly stated that the humanoid robot Optimus will become “the most successful commercial product in human history” and will change many aspects of modern life.
While Tesla has yet to overcome production and design challenges, it has made a significant move towards full-scale production — Optimus has moved to the third generation.
Not just a robot, but a superhero
Tesla released a short video detailing the development of Optimus, showing how its new version looks. According to engineers and designers, Optimus Gen-3 will be the most advanced version of itself and will visually resemble not a robot but “a person in a superhero suit.”
Apart from the design, this effect will be achieved through maximum smoothness of movements, which will be virtually indistinguishable from human movements.

These hands can do everything
Developers showcased the updated robot hands and the movements of its fingers. They feature 22 degrees of freedom, include tactile sensors (feeling pressure and contact), can handle fragile objects (such as an egg), and are covered with a skin-like material.

"As we go into gen-3 and into mass production, we are getting very close to human functionality and form factor. It won’t even look like a robot. It will look like a human in a superhero suit. It will be something revolutionary." https://t.co/jOTnHWuxqF pic.twitter.com/nyGgkgyKec
Tesla plans that the combination of the latest materials and machine learning will help Optimus Gen-3 perform a wide range of tasks, from industrial manufacturing to household assistance.
The robot will be able to lift up to 20 kg and work 10-12 hours without recharging.
