Epic Smartphone Battle 2026: iPhone Fold vs. Samsung Galaxy Wide Fold with Unique 4:3 Displays
In 2026, we expect an epic showdown between two unconventional foldable smartphones — iPhone Fold and Galaxy Wide Fold. According to leaks, both new devices will have an unusual aspect ratio — 4:3 in the unfolded state.
This format makes the screen more "square" — closer to the classic proportions of old televisions and ideal for reading, working with documents, browsing web pages, and viewing photos. Meanwhile, modern smartphones and most video services are geared towards widescreen displays of 16:9 or 21:9, which may be inconvenient for some users.
Really square and without a crease! Insider showed live photos of iPhone Fold (or its mockup), and now reputable insider OnLeaks has shown what the Samsung smartphone will look like.
What is known
The Android Headlines portal has published several quality renders of Samsung's ambitious gadget, but the author emphasizes that the images are early and the final look of the Galaxy Wide Fold may differ slightly.
Unlike other Samsung flagships, the Wide Fold will have a dual camera module instead of a three-sensor system, making it look like a shortened Galaxy S25 Edge.
According to insiders, the dimensions of the Wide Fold will be 123.9 × 161.4 × 4.9 mm in the unfolded state and 123.9 × 82.2 × 9.8 mm when folded. Remarkably, despite its fairly thin body, the smartphone will have a battery capacity of 5000 mAh with 45W charging support.
The diagonal of the outer screen will be 5.4”, the inner one — 7.6”. Both screens will feature OLED panels and their own front cameras. The devices will be powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor.
The Galaxy Wide Fold presentation is expected to take place in July 2026 simultaneously with other Samsung foldable novelties — Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.
