Suddenly, gamers received an answer to the question of what Serious Sam: Shatterverse is all about — an unannounced game that recently received an age rating.

The debut trailer of the novelty leaked online, and it caused, to say the least, surprise.

Leaked footage does not inspire confidence

So, Serious Sam: Shatterverse is a co-op shooter where five alternative versions of Sams from different universes come together to join forces in the battle against alien monsters.

The game resembles a typical modern representative of the genre: players will find themselves in a hub location where they can chat, select a mission, upgrade equipment, and possibly engage in other activities, after which the team starts the selected mission, followed by the usual Serious Sam gameplay, destroying a huge number of enemies.

The trailer shows that each of the Sams, one of whom is a woman and another a half-alien, not only has different weapons but also unique abilities, such as the ability to shoot themselves out of a cannon.

The game conceptually reminded most of the failed Painkiller (2025), which was also created with a focus on verticality and team interaction, but none of its aspects were brought to perfection.

Croatians were not invited

From the trailer, it became known that Shatterverse is being developed not by the authors of Serious Sam from the Croatian studio Croteam, but by Behaviour Interactive — a studio known for the popular asymmetric horror Dead by Daylight, which also raises questions among fans of the series.

The publisher of the game is Devolver Digital.

When to expect

The leak revealed that Serious Sam: Shatterverse will be released in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
