STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl DLC "Cost of Hope" Unveiled with New Faction Conflict and Iconic Locations
At the Xbox Partner Preview show, the long-awaited announcement of the first expansion for the shooter S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl took place — it will be called 'Cost of Hope'
What is known
Ukrainian developers from GSC Game World will offer a large-scale expansion of the main campaign of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. After installing the DLC, Skif's PDA will receive a signal that will launch a new storyline.
The hero will find himself at the center of a conflict between the factions 'Duty' and 'Freedom', which were once allies, but even before the events of 'Heart of Chornobyl' parted ways on how to protect the Zone and dissolved the D4 Contract.
As part of the Cost of Hope expansion, players will have the opportunity to visit the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant and Iron Forest — this was long assumed, but now developers have officially confirmed it. The mysterious Mavka and Zulu — a character from Call of Pripyat — will also be actively involved in the narrative.
Developers promise exciting quests, interesting characters, and answers to questions raised both in the latest and previous parts of the series.
Interestingly, at the Xbox Partner Preview developers indirectly confirmed that STALKER 2 will become a kind of second trilogy — Cost of Hope will be its middle part, and another storyline expansion will be released in the future.
When to expect
The release of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Cost of Hope expansion is scheduled for summer 2026 on PC, Xbox Series, and PlayStation 5.
