Sony Faces Backlash as PlayStation 5 Prices Surge Amid Chip Shortage
Analysts who claimed that Sony would not go for an increase in the cost of PlayStation 5 consoles were wrong. Even the timely purchase of a large number of memory chips did not help the company avoid making an unpopular decision.

Starting from April 2, the new prices for consoles will be:

- PS5 Digital Edition – $/€599.99
- PS5 Pro – $/€ 899.99
The price increase will also affect the portable console PlayStation Portal, which will cost $/€ 249.99
