Warhorse Studios Replaces Beloved Translator with AI to Cut Costs, Sparking Outrage Among Fans
Beloved by gamers, Warhorse studio made an unpopular decision that has been harshly criticized.
The company fired translator Max Heitmanek, who for four years adapted the original Czech text of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 into English.
What is known
Max was not fired due to poor work or misconduct, nor because they found a more professional specialist for his place — it was done to save the budget. Now, translation in Warhorse Studios will be handled by artificial intelligence.
Heitmanek notes that the studio had long considered this idea, but he found out about his dismissal only after the fact, as no one warned him. The translator considers such behavior wrong, especially after the success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and wants the wider public to know about this action of the Czech studio.
I feel incredibly betrayed by the management of the company I have become so attached to over these almost four years, and it pains me that I will no longer be able to see my friends and colleagues in the office every day.
