The company Meta is preparing to launch new AI smart glasses aimed at users with prescription lenses. This is reported by Bloomberg. The presentation is expected to take place soon; however, the novelties will not be a full-fledged next generation of Ray-Ban Meta glasses.

What is known

It is about two models, which will have different frame options — specifically rectangular and rounded. For the first time, the devices are initially developed with the needs of people wearing corrective glasses in mind. Sales are planned through optical outlets.

Although the possibility of installing prescription lenses is already available in the current Meta Ray-Ban models, the new devices, according to sources, will be better adapted to this audience in terms of construction and design.

It is likely that we are talking about models with the codenames Scriber and Blazer, which were previously noticed by journalists of The Verge in documents from the Federal Communications Commission. The registrations indicate that these are already final versions of the devices, indicating an imminent release.

The novelties are expected not to receive a built-in display, like the conceptual versions of Meta glasses.

Earlier, the company's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, emphasized that billions of people in the world use glasses or contact lenses, and in the future, most of them may become devices with artificial intelligence.
