After the success of the historical role-playing game Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, the Czech studio Warhorse announced, Warhorse is not sitting idle: Kingdom Come: Deliverance authors are preparing to start development of a new role-playing game. Nothing is known about this game except that Warhorse News: Kingdom Come to Get a Feature Film Adaptation, and a New Game Is Being Developed Without Daniel Vavra is not involved — he decided to devote himself to a feature adaptation of Kingdom Come.

The gamer community has been buzzing with rumors that the studio would switch from a realistic setting to fantasy and release a game based on “The Lord of the Rings” franchise, but other authoritative sources did not think this was true, and Warhorse has no plans to release a remaster of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and the head of the studio dreams of making a Viking game. Now, however, Polish translator and gaming industry analyst Ryszard Chojnowski has shared super-interesting information.

Still “The Lord of the Rings”!

Ryszard Chojnowski participated in a thematic podcast on the Tolkien Polska channel, where games based on the legendary franchise Lord of the Rings were discussed. According to him, Warhorse has been working for some time on a large-scale action RPG in the setting of J. R. R. Tolkien's works at the AAA level. He mentioned that the project is being created with financial support from a fund with investors from the United Arab Emirates amounting to $100 million.

At first, Chojnowski did not pay much attention to these rumors, but now he believes there is more truth in them than many gamers think.

It all fits

In September 2025, the authoritative portal Insider Gaming reported that the Embracer Group is preparing a large-scale action RPG set in “The Lord of the Rings,” which is to receive support amounting to $100 million from the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO).

Remember, Warhorse Studios is part of the Deep Silver publishing studios, which in turn belongs to the Swedish holding company Embracer Group. Moreover, Embracer is the entity holding the rights to release projects in the “The Lord of the Rings” universe. Therefore, choosing Warhorse as the developer of a large-scale game based on the legendary franchise is absolutely logical, especially after the grand success of Kingdom Come.

Logical assumption

If Warhorse is indeed creating a fantasy game, it explains the departure of the studio head, Daniel Vávra, who throughout his career has worked exclusively on realistic games and it is quite likely that he did not want to work on such a project.
