Uber has announced its intention to acquire the German chauffeur service Blacklane to strengthen its position in the premium transportation segment. The deal still requires regulatory approval, and its closure is expected by the end of 2026.

What is known

Founded in 2011, Blacklane operates as an intermediary platform between local chauffeur services and customers seeking comfortable and personalized rides. The service is available in at least 500 cities across more than 60 countries. Its features include intercity transfers, airport meet-and-greet with flight tracking, and hourly car rental with a driver.

The company notes that this deal will be an important step in global scaling. However, it is not yet specified how exactly Uber's products will be integrated or whether Blacklane will compete with the new premium direction Uber Elite, recently launched as an invitation-only service.
