Neil Druckmann Teases The Last of Us' Future: "More Stops Ahead" for the Beloved Franchise
The Last of Us creator Neil Druckmann is currently unable to comment on the franchise's future extensively; however, he has previously hinted that Sony and Naughty Dog have big plans for it.
The famous game designer has now made another small statement, which was nonetheless enough to excite series fans.
What is known
Druckmann published photos of sketches dated as far back as 2003. Even then, he dreamed of creating a dark game about “a man, his adopted daughter, and their journey through a ravaged America.”
The rare images were found during a garage cleaning, but what interested fans the most was Neil Druckmann's phrase that there are “several more stops on the road for The Last of Us.” This statement could hint that the third part of the series may not be the last, or that gamers might expect, for example, a prequel or spin-off dedicated to one of the important characters.
What is known for sure is the premiere date for the third season of The Last of Us, which will take place on April 13th on HBO Max. Most likely, the series will conclude here, with its showrunner Baldur's Gate 3 continuation announced — and it will not be a game, but a series by HBO in the form of a series.
