The third wave of layoffs this year has started at the Canadian studio Eidos-Montréal, but this time not only ordinary developers will lose their jobs, but also the head of the company.

What is known

Eidos-Montréal reported that due to the cancellation of several major projects, the studio's needs have changed, so the decision was made to lay off 124 employees. They are all promised extensive support, and it is even stated that this will become the "main priority of the company".

Of course, the disappointment of those who lost their jobs is understandable to everyone, but perhaps their mood will be somewhat improved by the fact that along with them, the head of Eidos-Montréal, David Anfossi, who has led the studio since 2013, will also be looking for a new position.

The press release states that the transfer of management has already begun, but who will become the new head of Eidos is still unknown.

Let us remind you that Eidos-Montréal is the creator of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided, as well as Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. In addition, the Canadian studio has been directly involved in working on two more parts of Tomb Raider and Grounded, and is currently helping Playground Games with the reboot of Fable, which is due out in the fall of 2026.
