In December, Amazon and Crystal Dynamics Amazon and Crystal Dynamics announced a remake of the first Tomb Raider and unveiled the first teaser of the new game Tomb Raider: Catalyst — an entirely new part with the subtitle Catalyst and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis — a remake of the very first Lara Croft game.

Catalyst is supposed to be released in 2027, and the remake was promised to be released in 2026, with franchise fans logically suspecting that it would happen in October to beautifully mark the 30th anniversary of Tomb Raider. However, the plans of the developers, who are creating the game in collaboration with the Polish studio Flying Wild Hog, may change.

What is known

According to the public Society of Raiders, which was the first to report on the development of Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis before the official announcement, the game's release has been postponed to February 2027.

Insiders urge to treat this information as a rumor for now, but they are confident in its truth.

Recall that the remake of the first game about the British adventuress, which was released in 1996, will offer recreated from scratch on Unreal Engine 5 locations of Greece, Egypt, Peru, and other iconic places, but now Lara Croft's adventures will look incredibly technological and cinematic — dinosaurs much more detailed, and the heroine's chest is no longer triangular.

The game difficulty will also be adjusted, as by modern standards, the original action may seem too hardcore.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
