Qualcomm will help Google and Samsung make the watch better than the Apple Watch

Wear OS watches can't compete with Apple Watch yet. The reasons are varied, but Google is already partnering with Samsung to solve them. The idea is to borrow features and designs from TizenOS that can make the platform more attractive to end users.

The first devices to benefit from their collaboration will be the Galaxy Watch 4 series, which we will see in early August. The new version of Wear OS has caught the attention of Qualcomm, which has already begun work on the upcoming Snapdragon Wear line of processors. The premiere will take place before the end of the year.

The company also introduced the Wearable Ecosystem Accelerator. It is a conglomerate of external companies that contribute to the development of portable gadgets. Qualcomm is committed to working with multiple partners to bring more value to the Wear OS ecosystem.

The company's latest processor, the Snapdragon Wear 4100, is, however, used by too few devices on the market.

Qualcomm's business strategy includes increased investment in smartwatch hardware technology. The Snapdragon Wear could be an important weapon for Wear OS and the system's attempts to increase its market share by displacing the Apple Watch. The overall project probably means we'll see more models with Wear 4100 processors soon.

No details yet on the new Snapdragon Wear platform representatives, which will probably be introduced before the end of 2021. The last quarter of the year is traditionally associated with high activity, which Qualcomm will want to take full advantage of.

The Wearable Ecosystem Accelerator initiative includes more than 60 different companies, including Fossil Group, BBK Electronics (owner of OPPO and OnePlus), Vodafone, Verizon and others.
