Drones helped catch bank robbery suspects
Nottinghamshire Police arrived at Santander Bank in Stockwell Gate, Mansfield, at 01:00 local time after a security alarm went off which detected an attempted unauthorised access. Officers were unable to immediately locate the suspects until they decided to engage police drones, which are equipped for such cases.
When the drones got high enough, they immediately began signaling that the three suspects were located on the roof - thermal imaging cameras were able to measure the body temperatures of the three bank robbery suspects.
Two men, 25 and 40 years old respectively, and a woman, 31 years old, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and will remain in custody until the case is clarified and the necessary evidence is gathered.
Police say Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service have also committed their staff and efforts to help officers reach the suspects in the attempted bank robbery. It is not known at this time whether the three suspects were actually able to embezzle anything from the bank or whether their attempt was foiled at an early stage.
