Bloomberg: Tim Cook will launch a new category of product before leaving Apple
Tim Cook has been Apple's CEO for 10 years and it looks like his departure from the company is not far off.
What is known
This was reported by Bloomberg journalist and insider Mark Gurman. According to him, Cook is set to step down between 2025 and 2028. What's interesting is that until then, the CEO plans to launch a new category product. What exactly that will be - no information yet. But based on rumors and leaks, we are talking about an augmented reality headset.
Recall that according to the analyst of TF International Securities Ming-Chi Kuo, the development of mixed and augmented reality technology by Apple will consist of three stages. In the first phase, the Cupertinians are going to release a portable mixed reality helmet. It is already in development and, if everything goes according to plan, it will be shown in 2022. The device will get a Sony Micro-OLED display, support for proprietary services (Apple TV+, Apple Arcade) and a price tag in the neighborhood of $1,000. The second phase will include augmented reality glasses, which will not be released until 2025, and the third phase will include contact lenses.
