Samsung flagships get One UI 4.0 powered by Android 12
Samsung did release a test build of One UI 4.0 based on the Android 12 operating system for its flagship Galaxy S21 smartphones.
What is known?
Earlier this month, South Korea's and Germany's announced the imminent release of a test build of the software. The release was expected on September 9, but was for unknown reasons postponed indefinitely, and the company apologized.
On September 14, Samsung officially announced the launch of One UI 4.0 Beta distribution on Android 12 for Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra. Initially, only US residents could take part in the test, but a little later the company allowed users from China, South Korea, India, Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland.
To get One UI 4.0 Beta with Android 12, you need to register with Samsung Members. The official list of changes includes several items:
- redesigned widgets;
- easy access to emoji;
- animated stickers;
- updated set of visual effects for recharging;
- improved Samsung Health app;
- enhanced user interface customization options.
The company separately notes an increased level of privacy. The system will notify the user when one of the apps accesses the microphone or camera. At the same time One UI 4.0 will give the ability to see the history of permissions for the day and week.
The update for Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+ and Galaxy S21 Ultra will be sent out in waves. The size is almost 2.5GB. The update also sneaks an operating system security patch for September.
