Fairphone 4 - Snapdragon 750G-powered smartphone priced from €579
Fairphone has introduced a new generation smartphone. The model is called Fairphone 4 and is the successor to the Fairphone 3.
What's the fruit?
At one time, the Fairphone 2 and Fairphone 3 were awarded a rating of 10 for repairability by iFixit experts. No other smartphone can boast of this so far. The new generation model has not yet been tested.
Fairphone 4 is equipped with a 6.83" IPS FHD+ panel, which is covered by fifth-generation Gorilla Glass. The teardrop-shaped notch houses a 25MP front-facing camera based on a Sony IMX576 sensor. The aperture ratio of the optics is f/2.2.
The resolution of the main camera is 48 MP + 48 MP. The main module uses a Sony IMX582 sensor. The aperture of the lens is f/1.6. The ultra-wide-angle unit features an f/2.2 aperture lens. The model of the image sensor is not specified.
The heart of the Fairphone 4 is the 8nm Snapdragon 750G mobile processor, complemented by 6-8GB of RAM. Built-in storage holds up to 256GB of data. A 3905mAh battery with 30W fast charging over the wire is responsible for the smartphone's battery life.
The novelty runs on Android 11. The company promises to update the software till 2025, but the operating system will only update to Android 13. Also note Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1, USB-C, NFC and a fingerprint sensor on the right end. The dimensions are 162 x 75.5 x 10.5 mm with a weight of 225 g.
What's the trick?
The main feature of the Fairphone 4 is its modular design. The user can quickly replace the display, camera modules, battery and other components. All you need is an ordinary screwdriver.
Despite the peculiarities of design, the novelty has water protection class IP54. In addition, compliance with the U.S. military standard MIL-STD-810G is declared.
Pricing
The novelty is available in 6/128GB and 8/256GB modifications. The manufacturer's recommended price for the Fairphone 4 was €579 and €649 respectively. The company has already started taking pre-orders and sales will start on October 25.
Users will be able to purchase the selfie camera, battery, speaker, display, USB-C, rear and main camera separately. There is no USB cable or power adapter included.
