Clubhouse has a new "Music Mode". What is it for?
Clubhouse is experiencing tremendous competition from the big companies that want to take over the live audio space, but in one particular case it may be coming out ahead. The company is launching a new Music Mode that could make it the best place to play - and listen to - live music.
Clubhouse is clearly ahead of Amazon, which has been making statements about developing a similar service. Twitter, meanwhile, is already rolling out "audio spaces" with ticketed access, and Spotify has a separate app for live performances.
If you stream music on Clubhouse or like to listen to live music on the app, the new Music Mode "optimizes Clubhouse to stream music with high quality and great stereo sound," the company says in a blog post.
Clubhouse does not specify what is meant by high quality, but mentions that you can now plug in professional equipment, such as a USB microphone or a mixing console, and use it during the broadcast. At the end of August, Clubhouse already added spatial audio, which makes conversations feel more like a room full of people than a flat audio call.
