Apple's pioneering "polishing wipe" is sold out until November
How nobody wants Apple's "polishing cloth" for as much as $19, sales this Monday made that clear. Every stock of the product that Apple had in stock is sold out.
The corresponding page in the company's online store on Monday, when the product was announced, showed that orders for the wipes would be delivered between October 26 and 28. It's only been a day, and the delivery date has already been pushed back by more than three weeks. The new deadline is November 18 to 24.
For those not in the know, Apple describes its latest creation as a poet describes a spring day: "Made of a soft, non-abrasive material, the Polishing Wipe safely and effectively cleans any Apple display, including nano-textured glass."
In all seriousness, it's not the first time that fans of a particular brand have bought up products that often lack even such ephemeral usefulness as an Apple wipe. Suffice it to recall Ilon Musk's flamethrowers, released by his company with the aim of a zombie apocalypse.
