Photos of early prototype of the very first Apple iPod player are unveiled

The publication Panic has shared an exclusive photo of an extremely early iPod prototype that the general public has not been able to see before. The prototype is yellow in color and quite large compared to the original iPod, even though it was created late in the product development cycle. The iPod prototype is claimed to be dated September 3, 2001.

The prototype runs the iPod's proprietary software and even features a small scroll wheel in the upper left corner near the display. There are some tactile buttons on the right side of the device, arranged vertically.

It has the same ports as the original iPod, including FireWire and a standard headphone port. The display is very small compared to the rest of the case, but appears to be comparable in size to the display of the iPod itself. It is not known what color the prototype was originally, but there is speculation that it was light gray or white and has yellowed over the past two decades. Although it is possible that it has been that way from the beginning.

The prototype's authenticity was confirmed on his Twitter account by the "father of the iPod" himself, Tony Fadell. According to him, the P68/Dulcimer prototype "hastily built" was not tasked with working out the form factor, and there was "mostly air" inside the huge body.
