Google Photos "Locked Folder" feature coming to iOS

Google Photos users on iPhone and iPad will soon be able to lock their most important images into a special password-protected folder, thanks to a new feature coming to the iOS app.

Currently, the privacy-focused Locked Folder feature is only available on Pixel phones and allows users to save photos and videos in the app in a separate space that requires a code or fingerprint to access.

Media files saved in the folder remain hidden, meaning confidential photos don't show up when scrolling through Google Photos or in other apps on the device. Google says the feature will come to iOS "early next year."

It's important to note that, at least as it works now on Pixel phones, any cloud backups of items placed in a locked folder are automatically deleted from Google's servers.
