Users received tens of thousands of dollars worth of ENS tokens for free

The Ethereum Name Services project has issued ENS tokens, 25% of which have been paid out for free to users. They need to be picked up by the end of next spring.

The Ethereum Domain Name Project gave away a quarter of the issue to 137,000 users. The coins need to be picked up by May 4, 2022, or they will go into a vault. Some users received tokens worth tens of thousands of dollars. Many parameters were taken into account when calculating the payout, including the time the address was created. But the number of domain names linked to one address was not taken into account.

Users with domain names poap.eth and jessebmiller.ethreported about receiving ENS. The former received 787.4 tokens and the latter received 1,074 tokens, which at $38.23 is $30,102 and $41,059 respectively.
