Subaru Solterra: the company's first electric car with Toyota bZ4X-like design, fast charging and a range of up to 530 km

Subaru has unveiled its first electric car in Japan. It was the Solterra crossover.

What is known

The novelty has a futuristic appearance, which, by the way, is very similar to the electric car Toyota bZ4X. The fact is that both cars were developed in partnership. Therefore, the novelty differs only in some elements of the body. Wheelbase of Subaru Solterra is 2850 mm, and the length of the car is 4690 mm.

The crossover has two versions. The first gets front-wheel drive with a 150 kW electric motor and a range of up to 530 km on the WLTC cycle. The second, in turn, features all-wheel drive with two electric motors and range up to 460 km. The novelty supports DC fast charging with up to 150 kW of power. This allows the vehicle to be charged up to 80% in just 30 minutes.

Also worth mentioning in the Solterra is support of various assistants, as well as a solar panel which can be built into the car's roof. It will power the crossover's interior while it's parked. The car also received support for CarPlay and Android Auto. By the way, you can use your smartphone as a key for the Subaru Solterra.

Price and when to expect

The full announcement of the electric car will take place at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late November, and sales of the car are scheduled for mid-2022. How much the Subaru Solterra will cost is unknown.
