Elon Musk: "All subsidies should be canceled, including subsidies for oil and gas"

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has spoken out about published information that his company has waived a European subsidy for a gigafactory in Germany. Musk is of the opinion that all subsidies should be removed.

Tesla has always believed that all subsidies should be eliminated. It's just that huge oil and gas subsidies should be lifted as well. For some reason, governments do not want to do this, "Elon Musk said.

Another auto company spokesman told the media that Tesla will continue to stick with its plan to build a battery plant in Brandenburg, but no longer wants anything to do with government subsidies.

In January of this year, the European Union adopted a program to support electric transport and the production of batteries for electric vehicles, for which a total of 2.9 billion euros have been allocated. A number of companies have been included in this program, including Tesla and BMW. A little later it turned out that the subsidy for Tesla was 1.14 billion euros. The exact amount was due to be announced later this year, but Tesla pulled out of the subsidy.

Separately, the German Ministry of Economy reported that Tesla's direct investment in the German battery factory is worth at least 5 billion euros.
