Performance will rise on all fronts - Snapdragon 8 Gen1 specs known
On the eve of the presentation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 mobile processor, the technical characteristics of the future flagship-level single-chip system were leaked to the Network.
What is known
As expected, the chipset will receive a Prime-core Cortex-X2. CPU performance will increase by 20% compared to Snapdragon 888. In parallel, they promise to reduce energy efficiency by almost a third.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 will use the new Adreno graphics accelerator. It is logical to assume that the next GPU model after Adreno 660 will be called Adreno 670. But let's not exclude the possibility that Qualcomm will change the naming of not only the SoC, but also the GPU. Be that as it may, the performance gain of the new video chip will be 30%, and power consumption will drop by 25% compared to its predecessor.
The new mobile platform will boast the seventh generation Qualcomm AI-Engine. Its performance will be increased by 600%. Another feature of the processor will be a new 18-bit ISP, which will be able to provide support for recording video in 8K UHD format with HDR on a 64MP camera.
We will find out more information about Snapdragon 8 Gen1 already on December 1. The first smartphones with the new SoC will also be announced during the last month of 2021, but most likely they will appear on sale earlier than January of the next year.
