Elon Musk announced a new version of Tesla Cybertruck - with 4 motors and tank and crab modes
On Tesla Tesla unveils Cyberquad for Kids, a Cybertruck-style electric ATV for kids in Cybertruck style. But the pickup itself, announced back in 2019, has not yet appeared on the market. Instead, the head of the company, Elon Musk, announced a new version of the Tesla Cybertruck.
What has changed?
The new version will have four motors that provide independent power at each wheel. Currently, only one electric pickup on the market has such a system - the Rivian R1T. GMC's Hummer EV is also on the way, scheduled for delivery this month.
Thanks to the ability to drive independently, the Tesla Cybertruck will be able to activate tank mode. To put it simply, turn around 360 degrees on the spot. In addition, the electric car will be able to move like a crab diagonally, turning all four wheels in the same direction.
"Initially, a version with 4 engines and independent ultra-fast torque control of each wheel will go into production. It will have control of both front and rear wheels, so it will not only be able to turn like a tank - it will be able to move diagonally like a crab," said Elon Musk.
Musk didn't say anything about the timeline. Production of the Cybertruck is expected to start next year, and mass production is scheduled to start in 2023.
