To the delight of fans of all kinds of theories: the United States recognized the danger of 5G networks
While everyone in Europe is frustrated with 5G, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has warned that interference from the planned use of 5G wireless spectrum poses a safety risk and could lead to interference with aircraft flights.
Previously, the aviation industry and the FAA have raised concerns about potential interference from 5G to sensitive avionics such as radio altimeters. In response, operators AT&T and Verizon Communications in November agreed to postpone the commercial launch of the services until January 5th.
The FAA has issued two directives revising airplane and helicopter flight manuals to prohibit certain operations requiring radio altimeter readings while 5G C-Band signals are on the air.
One of the directives states that the "unsafe condition" caused by the use of the 5G C-Band requires immediate action as "radio altimeter anomalies not detected by the automated systems of the aircraft or pilot, especially near the ground, may result in the loss of the ability to safely continue flying and land. ".
The FAA is continuing talks with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the White House and industry representatives about possible restrictions, which are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
