Mercedes to add ChatGPT to US car infotainment system

Mercedes is planning to add a ChatGPT chatbot to the MBUX infotainment system. The feature will initially launch in the USA.

MBUX users will be able to take part in the beta programme from 16 June. To do so, the relevant functionality needs to be activated.

You can also enable ChatGPT by simply saying: "Hey Mercedes, I want to join the beta program".

According to the carmaker, the assistant will not only be able to accept natural voice commands, but also carry on conversations.

"Soon, participants who ask the Voice Assistant for details about their destination, to suggest a new dinner recipe, or to answer a complex question, will receive a more comprehensive answer – while keeping their hands on the wheel and eyes on the road."

As for privacy, Mercedes plans to record and store conversations to further improve the feature.
