YouTube has announced that it has recruited the Aloud team from Google's Area 120 incubator to bring their AI video dubbing service to the platform.
Here's How It Works
First, the tool creates a transcription of the video, which the creator can review and edit. The AI then translates the text and creates the dubbing.
Here's What We Know
YouTube is already testing the tool with "hundreds" of creators, the company said. Aloud currently supports a "few" languages with "more to come"
According to YouTube spokeswoman Jessica Gibby, Aloud is currently available in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
The company is also "working to make translated audio tracks sound like the creator’s voice, with more expression, and lip sync" These features are planned for 2024.
