25% of the British have used language models, almost one in two trust them

Nearly one in two Brits who have used large language models consider its responses to be correct, and some apply it at work.

Here's What We Know

Consulting giant Deloitte surveyed 4,150 UK residents aged between 16 and 75 as part of the local 2023 edition of Digital Consumer Trends to gain insight into the perception of language models and the extent to which they are being used commercially.

Some 52% of respondents had heard of the technology and 26% had used it, with 43% of them "mistakenly" believing "that it always produces factually accurate answers".

30% of respondents have tried language models once or twice, 28% use it weekly, 9% use it once a day and 8% use it at work.

According to Deloitte, employees are aware that the technology can be used at work, but only 23% said they have been authorised to do so.
