Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk and other leaders of the technology industry will gather in the U.S. Congress in the first of a series of policy forums to discuss ways to regulate artificial intelligence.
Here's What We Know
In addition to Musk and Zuckerberg, confirmed leaders include Microsoft's Satya Nadella, Alphabet's Sundar Pichai, OpenAI's Sam Altman, NVIDIA's Jensen Huang, and former Google CEO Eric Schmidt.
According to a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, the private bipartisan meeting on 13 September will also include representatives from advocacy, civic, labor and creative groups.
The discussions will form the basis for senators to begin drafting bills to regulate the rapidly growing AI industry. Experts and lawmakers fear the technology could lead to massive displacement of workers and be used for purposes such as disinformation campaigns and election interference.
