Microsoft has patented a backpack with artificial intelligence
The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has approved Microsoft's patent application for an artificial intelligence-enabled smart backpack.
Here's How It Works
The patent is for "wearable devices with artificial intelligence," but the main example and most of the patent illustrations depict a backpack specifically. It is equipped with a lot of sensors, including a camera, microphones, a GPS sensor and a compass. On top of that, Microsoft decided to add speakers, LEDs, and a haptic control system. Most of the sensors and sensors are located in the straps.
So, the backpack can recognise speech, text, images and faces, connect to a computer and cloud services. Therefore, it will be able to become a real assistant to the user: translate text in a foreign language, book concert tickets, determine location and route, enter plans in the calendar, etc.
But, in any case, this is still only a patent, and it is not clear whether Microsoft will realise its idea.
